From TV personality to the big screen! Lil’ Wayne’s daughter Reginae Carter, will be starring as one of leading ladies in a new Lifetime movie. According to Deadline, Carter is set to star as wild, boy-crazy Lydia in Pride And Prejudice: Atlanta. Reginae has appeared on a couple of VH1’s reality shows like, Growing Up Hip Hop and Friends & Family Hustle but Pride and Prejudice: Atlanta will be the first fictional feature film for the hip-hop royalty star.

It’s been 13 years since the 2005 adaptation of Pride and Prejudice, and Lifetime thinks it’s time to switch up Jane Austen’s tense and repressed love story. With a modern day take on the classic novel, the father who was blessed with multiple daughters is in a slight predicament so him and his wife come up with alternatives to assure that his children are taken care of when they pass away.

Centered around a family of Atlantan churchgoers, a black leading cast is set to portray the Bennet family. Bringing a twist different from the original film and novel. In the remake, Southern Baptist church leader, Reverend Bennett is played by Reginald VelJohnson. The reverend’s wife, played by Jackée Harry, is an author of a self-help book on how to find a perfect husband and her goal is to cure her daughters of their single status and marry them off to wealthy men. The single daughters will already have their eyes set on Will Darcy, a new bachelor that has arrived in town. So when Mrs. Bennet finds out about Will’s arrival in Atlanta, she sees it as the perfect opportunity to set up her stubborn daughter.

Since the Rhonda Baraka directed film has shifted the setting to modern-day Georgia, the old-school narrative of the novel will be replaced with issues pertaining to the most relevant generation. Listed below are the cast members with their characters and roles mentioned.

– Reverend Bennet (Reginald VelJohnson)
– Mrs. Bennet (Jackée Harry)
– Lizzie (Tiffany Hines)
– Jane (Raney Branch)
– Mary (Brittney Level)
– Lydia (Reginae Carter)
–  Kitty (Alexia Bailey)
–  Will Darcy (Juan Antonio)

There’s isn’t a set release date as of yet but the movie is set to debut on Lifetime in 2019.
