Fashion designer, Virgil Abloh, revealed that he raised $1 million in scholarships for black students.

“Post-Modern” Scholarship Fund, has received donations from Abloh himself, as well as Louis Vuitton, Evian, New Guards Group, and Farfetch. “Post-Modern” Scholarship Fund will partner up with the Fashion Scholarship Fund, to create opportunities for young American fashion creatives of all backgrounds.

“By the metrics, we’re projecting, we’ll put 100 kids, Black kids, through a wide spectrum of educational institutions. I started as a 17-year-old kid whose parents wanted him to be an engineer, but I wanted to be a fashion designer…. I’m 39 years old and it’s taken me that time to work to get here and prove my pedigree and to be in a position to activate change,” The Off White designer said in a statement.

The press release states, “The Abloh Fund’s mission is to foster equity and inclusion within the fashion industry by providing scholarships to students of academic promise of Black, African-American, or African descent.”

Last night, Abloh shared an image of a fifty-dollar bill to his Instagram account, introducing his new scholarship. He revealed that he raised $1 million in scholarships for black students.

“All I want is for any young black kid to achieve a shorter path to their career goals, and if I can help with an open-source approach to opening doors or messaging “how-i-did-it” along the whole way, then I’ve done my real job, not my actual job.”
