The 2020 American Music Awards aired lived on Sunday and it recognized some of the most infamous names in the industry.
Taraji P. Henson hosted the award show from The Microsoft Theater in Los Angeles. Live performances did take place, with strict Covid-19 precautions in place, there was also a small audience and live presenters.
The Weeknd and Roddy Ricch kicked things off by being the two artists with the most nominations, the two both had eight.
The Nominations for the The Weeknd were as followed: Artist Of The Year, Favorite Music Video, Favorite Male Artist Pop/Rock, Favorite Album Pop/Rock, Favorite Song Pop/Rock, Favorite Male Artist Soul/R&B, Favorite Album Soul/R&B, and Favorite Song Soul/R&B.
The Nominations Roddy Ricch received were, Artist Of The Year, New Artist Of The Year, Collaboration Of The Year, Favorite Song Pop/Rock, Favorite Male Artist Rap/Hiphop, Favorite Album Rap/Hiphop, Favorite Song Rap/HipHop (x2).
The two artists that won the most awards were Taylor Swift and The Weeknd, Swift won with 3 awards in the following categories, Artist Of the Year, Favorite Music Video (Cardigan), and Favorite Female Artist Pop/Rock. The Weeknd came in with 3 as well, Favorite Song Soul/R&B “Heartless”, Favorite Album Soul R&B “After Hours” and Favorite Male Artist Soul/R&B.
