Oprah Winfrey is hosting a virtual town hall as part of her OWN YOUR VOTE initiative to encourage, support, and inspire Georgia Voters, tonight, Monday, Jan. 4th at 8 pm est.
The talk show host will speak with Georgia voters in an effort to prepare them for the runoff elections. Those joining the town hall will be individuals and groups that can help provide resources and information to voters such as, voting rights experts and national thought leaders.
Speakers include Helen Butler, executive director of the Georgia Coalition for the Peoples’ Agenda, Stacey Abrams, founder of Fair Fight, Actress Crystal Fox, and Congresswoman Nikema Williams. Representatives for women’s rights organizations will also participate in the event. Dr. Glenda Glover (Alpha Kappa Alpha Sorority, Incorporated); Beverly E Smith (Delta Sigma Theta Sorority, Incorporated); Melanie Campbell (Black Women’s Roundtable); Glynda Carr (Higher Heights Leadership Fund); Dr. Johnetta Betsch Cole (NCNW); Dr. Kimberly Leonard(The Links, Incorporated); Rasheeda S. Liberty(Sigma Gamma Rho Sorority, Incorporated); Valerie Hollingsworth Baker (Zeta Phi Beta Sorority, Incorporated). Rev. Toni Belin Ingram, presiding elder, AME Church will say a closing prayer.
