Former pro baller Michael Jordan is North Carolina through and through, and being home grown he felt it was only right to give back. After the effects of Hurricane Florence, MJ is helping out his old stomping grounds by donating $2 Million to the American Red Cross and the Foundation For The Carolinas’ Hurricane Florence Response Fund, according to a press release given by the NBA.
Currently, Jordan is the co-chairman of Charlotte basketball team the Hornets. During an interview yesterday with The Charlotte Observer, Jordan says –
“You gotta take care of home. Wilmington truly is my home.”
In addition to the $2 Million that will be donated, the players and staff of the Hornets will be helping to pack the disaster food boxes. Their goal is to pack 5,000 boxes and give it to the families that have been directly impacted by the hurricane. Although the hurricane has downgraded to a tropical storm, there are still high concerns about the flooding and as of Tuesday afternoon, the death toll has risen to 32.
