The 2018 Soul Train Awards Nominations Are In!

This year, The 2018 Soul Train Awards are kickin’ it old school. From the hosts to the honorees they are throwing it back to the ‘90s.

Hosting this year’s show are two real life best friends who are known  for being the iconic best friend duo of the ‘90s. TV show besties on the hit comedy series Martin, Tisha Campbell and Tichina Arnold are sure to turn up and show out for this year’s awards!

Late last week, BET officially announced the nominees for the 2018 Soul Train Awards across 12 different categories. Topping the list is H.E.R. with seven nominations including include “Song of the Year,” “Best R&B/Soul Female Artist,” “Album/Mixtape of the Year,” “Best Collaboration Performance,” “Video of the Year,” and two nods in the “The Ashford and Simpson Songwriters Award.”

Following closely behind with six nominations each is Cardi B and Bruno Mars including “Song Of The Year” for their collaboration on “Finesse.” Other notable nominees include SZA who garnered five nominations, along with Ella Mai and Daniel Caesar with four nods.

Previous Soul Train Awards Show host, Erykah Badu is changing roles and will be honored with the “Legend Award” for her over two decades in the music business. Four-time Grammy award-winning, singer-songwriter, artist, director/producer, holistic healer, activist, and mother Badu, is no stranger to the Soul Train stage as her career has roots deeply planted in soul. Erykah Badu’s groundbreaking debut was not only an album but an introduction to a new lifestyle. Throughout her career, Badu has continued to use her platform to showcase her many talents. She has incorporated instruments such as tuning forks, crystal singing bowls, and gemstones and more into her music, with her vocals being her essential instrument.

Slated to receive the fourth annual “Lady Of Soul Award” is multi-platinum Grammy Award-winning artist, songwriter, and record producer Faith Evans. With a music career spanning over two decades, Faith has released eight studio albums, with over 18 million albums sold and generating over 30 singles.

Just like every year, the annual celebration, recognizes the best in Soul, R&B and Hip-Hop from legends to the next generation and everything in between. While showcasing Soul Train’s impact on the history of music and dance from the 70s to today.

This year the show will be filled with ‘90s memories, fun, and most of all music. Featuring an exciting lineup of unforgettable performances where viewers can expect to see special appearances by some of the brightest stars in entertainment. The BET Presents: 2018 Soul Train Awards will be filmed on November 17th at the Orleans Arena located in Las Vegas and will air November 25th, 2018 at 8PM ET on BET.
