This year’s annual Urban One Honors Ceremony will highlight accomplishments from African American Women with a tribute.
For the first time since its start, the award show will simulcast on its sister network CLEO TV.
Grammy award-winning gospel artist Erica Campbell and Award-winning journalist Roland Martin will host the event. The theme of this year’s award show is “Women Leading Change.” Throughout the evening, the show will highlight women’s contributions to “business, media, health, politics and leading an impactful change within the Black Community.”
“I am thrilled to co-host this year’s Urband One Honors,” Campbell says in the Press Release. “I love anything that celebrate and exemplifies Black excellence, and I am grateful to Cathy Hughes and Radio One for continuing to honor our peers for doing the work that uplifts and inspires our community.”
“Black women play a crucial role in saving our democracy,” adds Martin. “Not just in the election, but also on the ground in numerous cities fighting for freedom. I’m proud to join Urban One in honoring these American sheroes.”
This year’s categories of recognition will reflect the areas in which Black women are pioneering to create change. Some of the categories include; Voting Rights Champion, Business Alchemist, Investigative Journalism Crusader, Health Equality Advocate, Reparations Ambassador, and Family Needs Ambassador.
Accompanying the night showcasing black excellence will be extraordinary musical performances, collaboration and special-guest apperances.
Be sure to tune in on Sunday, May 16 at 9 pm EST to watch the Urban One Honors tribute to trailblazing Black women.
