Percy “Master P” Miller receives an honorary doctorate in human letters from Lincoln University, the first historically Black University (HBCU).

Last week, Lincoln announced that several people, including Master P, would receive honorary doctorates.

The Hip hop legend along with 400 graduates and 6 valedictorians attended the outdoor ceremony on Sunday, May 23rd.

The Hip hop Mogul took to social media to share the news with his fans.

“From projects to getting a Doctoral degree from @lincolnuniversityofpa,” he writes. “Don’t be afraid to change, grow and educate yourself. I did! You can do it too! #GODISGOOD #Nevertoolater #hbcu #NoLimit There is NO limit to your dreams #DRPMiller.”

Earlier this year, REVOLT TV reported that Master P was contemplating owning his own HBCU.

“I just want you guys to do your research, and anybody that’s listening to this and has a business, I want y’all to join this movement with me,” the Louisiana native says. “We need to make sure that our kids get educated the way the other cultures are educated. And that funding is put back into our education… We gotta change the narrative, and it’s going to be economic empowerment.”

Following his father’s wise words, Master P’s son, Hercy Miller decided to attend an HBCU. The basketball star will attend Tennessee State University (TSU).

Although larger institutions showed interest in the athlete, such as UCLA, LSU, and USC, Hercy wanted to use his platform to show other options besides the bigger, well-known schools.

“I want to be a leader, and a dream of mine and a goal of mine is to change the narrative,” Hercy told the Tennessean. “I want to show people you don’t have to go to one of these big schools, Power Five conference schools, just to be great. There are a lot of great people who came out of HBCU’s or mid-major schools. I want to be the next one.”
