Basketball veteran Shaquille O’Neal and actress Melissa McCarthy are both joining the Amazon family as the newest additions of its Alexa voice assistant.
The pair are now a downloadable feature for the devise. Each coming with their own personalities, Amazon product holders can feel like they are standing in the presence of an A-list celebrity. After the night demand with the original launch with Samuel L. Jackson, Amazon took it up a notch by adding more familiar household names to the scene.
“It’s on! Shaq is in the house to make your speakers bounce. Boomshakalaka! I’m so excited to be a part of the Alexa experience,” said O’Neal. Starting your request with “Hey Melissa” or “Hey Shaq”, will activate the feature. Similar to the original Alexa, the feature will give you access to the latest weather report, hear a personal story, and even a joke or two. Just by using the sound of your voice, you can be entertained for hours.
“Customers have had a lot of fun with the Samuel L. Jackson experience on Alexa, and when customers love something, we look for ways to give them more of it,” said Toni Reid, vice president of Alexa Experience & Echo Devices. “We’re thrilled to add two new celebrity personalities to Alexa and had a great time working with Shaquille O’Neal and Melissa McCarthy on this project. We can’t wait to see what customers think.”
Both voices are available to Amazon customers in the US now, priced $4.99 USD each.
