Tinashe has partnered with Reese’s Puffs and Save the Music Foundation to launch the company’s first-ever music boxes, the RP-FX and RP-PRO.

In an exclusive interview with People, the singer-song writer explains how this project mirrors her upbringing.

“That’s initially where I really started my career,” she tells People. “ [ I ] was creating music on my own, in my own space, in my room at my parents’ house — making songs in my bedroom and teaching myself how to do that.”

“And so I’ve always been an advocate for not waiting around for someone else to teach you how to do something, especially when it comes to creating music,” she adds.

According to People, along with creating music boxes for children, Reeses’s Puffs will donate $100k to Save the Music Foundation. The purpose of this donation is to “make music more accessible” (via People).

“Together this partnership ensures that students from Newark to Los Angeles will have the musical instruments and technology they need to create, innovate and express themselves this coming school year,” says Henry Donahue, the executive director of the foundation, in a statement.

The “no drama” singer posts videos on her YouTube Channel, “Taught by Tinashe” were she teaches viewers how to use the music boxes.

“Tinashe is a multi-faceted singer, songwriter, producer and much more – that’s why we thought she would be a perfect partner to help bring the RP-FX and RP-PRO music boxes to life,” said Mindy Murray, senior marketing manager at General Mills. “She will also help us make music even more accessible to fans everywhere through the Save The Music Foundation with ‘Taught by Tinashe’. This partnership brings music education to the forefront and demonstrates General Mills’ commitment to the arts.”

The R-FX and RP-PRO music boxes allows users to create their own music by placing puffs on the back of the REESE’S PUFF cereal box while using the PuffsFX.com app.
