Apple TV is working on a documentary of the life and career of Sidney Poitier. Poitier, who passed away January 6, 2022 broke many barriers being the first African-American in Hollywood films. This was huge as this happened in the same era of the civil rights movements.
Oprah Winfrey has been named the executive producer of the documentary and it will be directed by Reggie Hudlim. This is not Oprah’s first time partnering with Apple TV as she has previously produced The Oprah Conversations on Apple TV. Huldim is an American film screenwriter in the 90s. Huldim worked on movies such as “House Party”, and “Boomerang”.
The documentary, entitled “Great Tree” has been in the works for a year. Although the official release date hasn’t been announced, we’re looking forward to learning the true story of a Hollywood legend.
