The iconic leader and businessman, TD Jakes, closed out the Woman Thou Art Loosed! Conference (WATL) this weekend. The Grand Finale took place at the Georgia World Conference Center in Atlanta. At the end of the powerful weekend, Jakes named his daughter Sarah Jakes Roberts the voice of the next generation of women ministry.
Since 1992, TD Jakes has cultivated a space to inspire and uplift Christian women in spite of their circumstances. Beginning as Women, Thou Art Loosed!, the conference is now elevating to Women Evolve, Jakes Roberts’ own women’s conference. As he passes the torch to his daughter, Jakes comments this transition as a calling. “Sarah Jakes Roberts, when you walk onto this stage, you are walking into your destiny. After 30 years of Woman, Thou Art Loosed! and 45 years of preaching the Gospel, the time has come that I must decrease, and you must increase. This is not an inheritance; this is a calling. You are not standing on this stage for family legacy. This is not a favor, but a divine assignment that Woman, Thou Art Loosed! must evolve.”
The legacy continues, starting as a sunday school plan to a global phenomenon. The Woman Thou Art Loosed!: The Grand Finale marks the beginning of something new starting with Sarah Jakes Roberts. After 25 years, Jakes starts a new chapter for Women Evolve as he annoints his daughter. “With every drop of oil that falls upon your head, may the strength and power of the Almighty God rest upon your life.” Jakes Roberts ends with, “We’ve just been loosed to evolve into the next dimension.” Although this is the end for WTAL, Women Evolve will be another great space to encourage women with Sarah Jakes Roberts now taking over.
