Roc Nation artist and hop-hop lyricist Rapsody has a long record of being an inspiration to the her fans, and telling it like it is. Born Marlanna Evans in Snow Hill, North Carolina, Rapsody is the true definition of unapologetic authentic power. Her album ‘Eve’ pays tribute to many women of color including Whoopi Goldberg, Aaliyah, Oprah Winfrey, Tyra Banks, and more.

JaGurl TV founder Ravin Williams had an exclusive interview with Rapsody at the 2019 Black Girls Rock award show to talk about the album, and all the positive things going on in Rapsody’s career. “Everyday I try to give love, I feel like if you wake up, and you have that kind of heart, positive things just come back to you.” stated Rapsody.

She also assured us that the inspiration behind ‘Eve’ was all about her writing her love letter to women of color, including herself; “I wanted to do a whole project because I wanted to write my love letter for myself, and for us. We should be celebrating each other, and I wanted to tell the real story of who we (black women) are; all of us. We all should be celebrated, appreciated, and loved on; and we are not all the same.”

Her rap flow is like no other, filled with powerful messages, and strong statements. Check out her most recent performance of her songs ‘Nina’ and ‘Serena’ from the 2019 BET Hip Hop Awards below.
