TikTok is a video-sharing social networking service founded in 2012. First popular in China, users can create short videos showcasing their talents and making funny videos. It is used to create short lip-sync, comedy, and talent videos. The app was launched in 2017 for iOS and Android in the United States and from there has sky rocketed in popularity.

Popular dances like “Renegade” has been created plenty of times by different users who add their own spin on it. This week we are learning the story of 14-year-old, Jalaiah Harmon, who created one of the biggest dances on the internet.

“Renegade” is a dance sequence that was choreographed to the song “Lottery” by the Atlanta rapper K-Camp. Since the dance blew up on TikTok, K-Camp has experienced an increase in streams of his songs and he has expressed his gratitude. K-Camp went to Twitter to give Jalaiah her props saying, “Thank you Jalaiah and Skylar for helping make lottery the BIGGEST song in the world. Tell the blogs eat it up!”

The gratitude was reciprocated by Jalaiah as she was never given the original credit for creating the viral dance. As we are so happy to see little black girls win we can’t forget to give credit to all who are involved.

Multi-Platinum music producer and artist, Reazy Renegade, was the inspiration for the name of the dance and the man who produced the track back in 2019. If you’re wondering why the intro of the song goes “Renegade, renegade, renegade”, it’s Reazy Renegade’s producer tag! Reazy Renegade most recently produced “Don’t Know” by Nore and “Woke Up” by Dave East and Tory Lanez off his new album Paranoia 2. In addition, Reazy also produced Fabolous new single with Tory Lanez “Seasons Change”.

This goes to show you the power of the internet and how proper information can be missed if we do not spread the right narrative. Give credit where credit is due and shoutout to everyone who was involved in making this go viral.
