After 20 years with the New England Patriots, Tom Brady announced this past week that he will be signing with the Tampa Bay Buccaneers. The news broke out just two days after Brady wrote on Twitter about his departure from the Patriots on Tuesday.
“I want to say thank you for the past twenty years of my life and the daily commitment to winning and creating a winning culture built on great values. I am grateful for all that you have caught me,” he continued. “Although my football journey will take place elsewhere, I appreciate everything that we have achieved and am grateful for our incredible TEAM accomplishments.”
According to CBS Sports, the Tampa Bay Buccaneers and the Los Angeles Chargers both offered Brady a minimum salary of $30 million to join their teams. This amount, of course, would make him one of the top 10 highest-paid players in the NFL. However, his new contract is reportedly a two-year deal that’s worth approximately $60 million.
This comes as a blow to many Patriot fans as Brady has won six Super Bowl championships for the team. His legacy will reign as he continues to the next chapter of his career.
