Ariana Grande’s relationships are always in the tabloids. From Big Sean to Mac Miller to Pete Davidson. Well now Ariana has released a song to accompany all the past headlines. “Thank you, Next” talks about all the lessons that her previous relationships have taught her.

[Verse 1] “Thought I’d end up with Sean / But it wasn’t a match / Wrote some songs about Ricky / Now I listen and laugh / Even almost got married / And for Pete, I’m so thankful / Wish I could say, “Thank you” to Malcolm / ‘Cause he was an angel

[Pre-Chorus] “One taught me love / One taught me patience / One taught me pain / Now, I’m so amazing / I’ve loved and I’ve lost / But that’s not what I see / So, look what I’ve got / Look what you taught me / And for that, I thank”

[Chorus] “Thank you, next (Next) / Thank you, next (Next) / Thank you, next (Next) / I’m so fucking grateful for my ex”

Whooo, this just might be all the ladies’ new go to break up song.

But, after reading the lyrics some of you may be wondering who in the world is Ricky. Ricky was one of Ariana’s back up dancers and the two dated from 2015 to 2016. You may have seen him in a pic or video when the two kissed on stage at a 2015 Pride Festival.

Later in the song, Ariana seems to be singing about her taking some time out for herself.

[Verse 2] “Spend more time with my friends / I ain’t worried ’bout nothin’ / Plus, I met someone else / We havin’ better discussions / I know they say I move on too fast / but this one gon’ last / ‘Cause her name is Ari / And I’m so good with that (So good with that)”

[Pre-Chorus] “She taught me love (Love) / She taught me patience (Patience) / How she handles pain (Pain) / That shit’s amazing (Yeah, she’s amazing) / I’ve loved and I’ve lost (Yeah, yeah) / But that’s not what I see (Yeah, yeah) / ‘Cause look what I’ve found (Yeah, yeah) / Ain’t no need for searching, and for that, I say”

Sounds like Ariana is teaching herself and everyone else a great lesson about relationships. Find the good in each one and learn from the mistakes. Glad to see Ariana has learned both love and patience.

“Thank You, Next” can be heard on all digital platforms.
