BET Has Announced their Plans for the 2020 BET Awards, and Cancel BET Experience

On May 20, 2020, BET announced their plans to move forward with the “BET AWARDS 2020″. The “BET Awards” is one of the most-watched awards shows which celebrates the biggest accomplishments in music, television, film, sports, and philanthropy . The “BET Awards” was created as a celebration by African-Americans, for African-Americans.

“The BET Awards are a seminal event – the biggest celebration of Black culture, Black accomplishment, Black excellence, and Black potential,” said Scott Mills, President of BET. “Our community, and the many millions who love Black culture, look to the BET Awards for signature moments of enrichment, entertainment and empowerment.  Recognizing the unique role the BET Awards plays for so many, and the challenging times we find ourselves in, we know it was more important than ever to deliver the BET Awards in 2020.”

Due to the global health pandemic, Covid-19, BET will be using innovative tactics to bring the experience live to your screens. The show will continue with a more interactive style that is catered to the audience to join in on the celebration. Since this year marks both the 20th Anniversary of the awards and BET’s 40th Anniversary, the show will be a special one that’s not to be missed.

The pandemic has also made it that the BET Experience weekend will not continue as scheduled and will return in 2021. The three day weekend is a staple in the award show’s history that’s packed with parties, networking events, and live performances.

You can still enjoy the 2020 BET Awards in a virtual format on Sunday, June 28, 2020 at 8/7C from the comfort of your homes. For news and updates, please visit bet.com/awards.

“We look forward to coming together as a community healthier and stronger for an incredible event that showcases the best in culture, music, and entertainment in 2021,” BET states during their press release.
