On Saturday August 20th, Atlanta hosted their 2nd annual Black Girls in Media conference. Black Girls In Media is a networking organization committed to support and uplift minority women in the media industry. Creator of BGIM and HBO Comtent Coordinator, Tasha McCaskiel, created this worldwide community for content curators, producers, journalists, publicists, and more. Hosted by electrifying media personality, Ohavia Phillips, BGIM annual media conference housed a day full of shared knowledge and panels from powerhouses in the media space.

“Atlanta is the first place I thought of for many reasons. We have a strong audience there, plus, it’s what I would consider the home of Black media. This life-changing conference will be the start of many more to come,” said McCaskiel.

The panels varied from brand development, money management, wealth building, and more. The panel lineup went as followed:

  • Building Your Brand
  • Managing and Scaling Your Wealth
  • Black Women in Leadership
  • A Look Into Both On Air and BTS

These panels were curated by Black women who have made themselves an expert in their fields. Guests included Danielle Germain, Ashle Mitchell, Shawnae Corbett-Rice, Brianna Weaver, Dominique Webb, Lauren Paige-Woulard, Elizabeth Smith, Sidnee Mitchell, Jazmin Griffith, Ellie Diop and many more! The panels had a Q&A segment accompanied with prizes, gift bags, and Black owned vendors.

Black creatives, media professionals and influencers to attend the conference to mix, mingle, and network, which made this their biggest event to date!
