Jasmine “Watch Jazzy” Brown is a female Instagram comedian and actress who has over one million followers that she calls her “besties”. The 30-year-old comedian began her rise to fame with her popular videos that spoke on real experiences relating to women. She pulled inspiration from her friends, family, and her own past experiences when it came to dating and relationships. Her comedic view on life made for great entertainment and a career in comedy that she was not expecting. Years later, her hard work and dedication to the craft has expanded her resume to acting as she will be a part of a live movie remake of B.A.P.S.

The original movie was released in 1997 and featured Halle Berry and Natalie Desselle. In the movie they played friends who work dead end jobs as waitresses but then drop everything to fly to Los Angeles and follow their dreams. Robert Townsend, who is the director of the original film, went to his Instagram with a photo of Halle Berry asking who would be a good fit for the remake.

He went to his Instagram and said, “I directed B.A.P.S. starring @HalleBerry and written by @Troybyer With all the reboots going on,here’s the question of the day. Would you go see a sequel to Baps?”

This is when fans stepped in and flooded the directors comments with ‘@watchjazzy’ tags, which nominated her for Halle Berry’s old role of Nisi.

JaGurl TV caught up with the Watch Jazzy on the red carpet during Floyd Mayweather’s 43th birthday celebration in Hollywood. Here is where Jazzy spoke about her experiences on being a part of the project and what we can expect.

“They’re taking it to the stage so I start rehearsals in a couple of days and I go on my tour for like the rest of the year starting in March.”, said Jazzy.

She originally announced the news on her Instagram page with a photo of her and Natalie in full costume.

When expressing her gratitude, Jazzy said, “I am so blessed because my supporters, my besties, really always think of me and always have my back. A lot of people always consider me for work and I also work HARD too so you know, you get in what you put out.”

Although the team is taking the movie to the stage, Jazzy also has 4 other projects that she is writing and producing that we should keep a lookout for in the future.

The first show is expected to premiere March 13, 2020 in Washington D.C. For more information on tickets, tour locations, and pricing go to www.bapsliveonstage.com.
