Grammy award winning artist, Future, is using his platform for good and pouring into the youth. The “Life is Good” rapper went back to the community that raised him and made it a priority to give back to his alma mater, Columbia High School in DeKalb County Atlanta. Future, in conjunction with his foundation, Freewishes, brought resources that is contributing to the students’ education and physical health.
Freewishes and Footlocker Atlanta contributed funding for a complete renovation of the school’s weight room. “Columbia has had the same weight room since I was attending there,” said Tia Wilburn, Freewishes Community Engagement Director. “Since our foundation is very big on health and wellness it was important for us to help create an environment for students in which they could be comfortable, have pride, and perform their best.” On top of the weight room face lift, Freewishes provided scholarships and hosted various educational workshops for students to utilize towards their academic career.
The Freewishes Foundation is big on health and wellness. The new weight room was not only a good look for the school but is being used as a tool to get students more motivated about their physical health. Footlocker Atlanta’s division is assisting in this outreach and it took this philanthropy project to a whole new level. “Footlocker is a universal brand.” Future stated. “It’s a great thing to be a part of Footlocker and come back to Columbia and give back.”
