R&B singer H.E.R.’s fame has reached new heightens, from performing at the Super Bowl to winning Female R&B/Pop artist. The singer also recently collaborated with the Obamas on their upcoming Netflix series, We the People.
The new animated series is produced by Barrack and Michelle Obama, and Kenya Barris. The series aims to teach children about the United States. The series will include stars such as Janelle Monae, Cordae, and many more.
During a recent interview with Entertainment Tonight(ET), H.E.R. spoke about her experience working with the Obamas.
The singer explained that she would do “anything for the Obamas.” She also expressed that partnering with them on a project pushed her to “kill” the assignment.
“Wow,” says the singer. “I am a part of something that the Obamas [did]. It’s kind of life-changing.”
Not only has the singer expressed awe in working with the Obamas. She also believes in the worth of their upcoming Netflix series, which she shared with ET.
“Sometimes you think, ‘I’m just a kid,’ or. ‘That’s a job for adults,’ but the youth is really the beginning of the rest of our lives,” she says. “I would like to believe my generation and younger, we’re going to set the tone for the future, and it’s up to us to be informed. I always say you can’t understand today without understanding yesterday, and so I think kids are going to start being more proactive and not reactive and really take control of the future.”
“And we’ll learn from those things that we learned in the past,” she adds. “And make a difference and make a change when they know that they can-that they have the power to. This project is going to empower people; I mean, it empowered me.”
H.E.R. will be featured on the “Active Citizenship” episode in the upcoming series.
