The annual 2020 Soul Train Awards aired on Sunday November 29, 2020 at 9 p.m. ET on BET.

Many stars were honored last night for their achievements, and one of those stars happened to be musician, H.E.R. She went home with two big wins; the award for Best R&B/Soul Female Artist and the Ashford & Simpson Songwriter Award for “I Can’t Breathe.”

During her speech, she addresses her take on the evolution of R&B. “This stage is for us, this stage represents us, and I think it’s very important to not forget where we came from, and I want to talk about R&B, how it’s rhythm and blues, and people say ‘R&B is dead’ You know R&B is not dead, R&B is in everything. R&B has a lot of champions and I like to consider myself one of them. ” She concludes with “When one of us wins, we all win, So, I’m so thankful for this. Thank you so much.”
