Halle Berry returns to the screen with her first directorial debut of “Bruised”. Berry will star as a MMA fighter with a bad reputation finding her way back to the ring after something unexpected changes her life forever. To aid in telling the story, Cardi B, an executive producer of the soundtrack alongside Berry, handpicked some of the hottest female artists on the charts to be featured.

In an interview with Variety, Berry exclaims that she “can’t wait to show it”. She continues, “I have to tell you, one of the things I’m most excited about is the title song that H.E.R. sang… and she killed it. So I can’t wait to share with everyone and am super excited.” Academy Award winner, H.E.R. has one of 6 original songs that play during pivotal parts of the movie. Others include Cardi B, Saweetie, City Girls, Flo Milli, and Latto. Additionally; Young MA, Yung Babe Tate, Rapsody, Erica Banks, and DreamDoll will feature with unreleased “inspired by” songs.

With this being her first time in the director’s chair, Berry shares how she has been waiting on her moment. “I realized that I can do what I want to do and found something I was passionate about. I love seeing these women of color who are now writing, directing, producing – telling their own stories. It’s important because for so long, Black women have had their stories told through the eyes of White men. Now, we get to realize our own stories, and that is exciting.”

We look forward to the Netflix release of “Bruised” coming November 24th. Watch trailer here.
