Have you ever felt misunderstood?
Have you ever felt like you needed to prove yourself to other people, especially those you love?
If you answered yes, you are not alone. During her morning meditation session, singer, songwriter, and philanthropist, Alicia Keys, shared her thoughts on how you can navigate your way to a positive life by not allow other people’s perspective to deter you.
At the beginning of her Instagram video, Keys talks about receiving negative energy from those you love and how it can greatly affect you even when you try to ignore it. The reason why negative energy affects us greatly is because like it or not, you naturally care about what people think about you. You care how they view you or receive your spirit.
She boldly explains how you don’t have to take the time to let others know who you are or your intentions, as long as you are navigating through life positively, “You are not responsible for their (other peoples) perspective of you or you’re not responsible for their perspective of the situation and all you are responsible for is your perspective. How you’re receiving it, and how you’re dealing with it.”
She also adds “as long as you are clear about how you live, what you mean and what you do” you don’t have to prove yourself to any naysayers.
Towards the end of the video, she shares one pivotal lesson she learned. Wanting to fix everything and wanting things to be perfect in life will set you back. She says, no matter what you do, “you are not responsible for this; other person who is dealing with whatever they are dealing with, going through whatever they are dealing with, processing however they are processing it. You are not responsible for how they see it and how they see you.”
The only responsibility, you have Keys said is how you see it and that is something that brings fulfillment into your life.
So no matter what you are going through in life, whether it is in love or in your career, you have to make sure you are not only being a positive force but also doing the best you can to bring love wherever you go.
