J.T. To Be Released From Prison Within the Next 90 Days

Last year Miami rap duo City Girls, fame catapulted when they were featured on Drake’s single “In my feelings” shifting their career into high gear.

City Girls has since been proclaimed has one of the hottest rap duo groups since Salt-N-Pepa with hit songs like “Where the Bag At”, “Act Up” and “Twerk ft. Cardi B”.

At the height of their new found fame, one half of the duo, Jatavia Johnson, also known as J.T. was demanded to turn herself in and began her two-year sentence in Federal Prison. She has been serving jail time since July 2018, for fraudulent credit card charges with an expected release date of March 21, 2020.

In an interview with Miami’s 99 Jamz radio station, Pierre Thomas CEO of Quality Control Music, announced that she would be released “within the next 90 days.”

The news comes as a surprise for fans when earlier this year her legal team filed a motion for her to be moved to a halfway house, where she could work on music, but the motion was denied. With reports citing the fact that it was up to the Bureau of Prisons to determine who gets released from prison early, not judges.

With the loss of one member, many speculated if the rap group would be able to withstand the test of time and second half of the duo Yung Miami, was able to do that and more.

I would say it came naturally because it was more motivation. I was like ‘Ok, she locked up, I know that she’s in this fucked up situation. At the end of the day, she’s going to need a lawyer, and this will be a way to provide for a lawyer, says Yung Miami in an interview with Thefader.com describing her adjustment to handling the band by herself.

She continues on to say, “She wasn’t out to see the attention the song was getting so when I saw it, I was like ‘This an opportunity and I’m finna run with it.

With so much garnered attention surrounding the City Girls the world is excited to see what new projects will be released with J.T.’s early release.
