New Line and the SpringHill Company are reviving their classic box office hit, “House Party”, starring “The Chi” main star Jacob Latimore alongside American-born British actor, Tosin Cole. The original story, following Christopher “Kid” Reid and Christopher “Play” Martin through different events following a house party, is getting a new story line. The characters are expected to be another catalyst for our culture much like it’s 1990 predecessor.
“It’s a fresh story, the only thing I’ll say is I’m not playing Kid or Play,” Jacob Latimore tells JaGurl TV at the 2021 One Music Festival in Atlanta Ga, “we’re embracing the culture, where it is right now; but also still paying homage to the OGs.”
Although he couldn’t give much about the post-production of the reboot, we can expect that Calmatic (director), Stephen Glover (writer), and SpringHill (producers) have put a completely new spin on the plot.
Latimore has had many notable roles including his most recent character “Emmett” of Lena Waithe’s “The Chi” which has recently concluded its fourth season in August. The very popular series has been green lit for another season and Latimore is ready to dive back into his character. “I gotta call Lena and see what they’re whipping up over there, but I’m ready for anything.”
We can’t wait to see what Latimore has in store in the “House Party” reboot and season 5 of The Chi. Both are highly anticipated and we’re ready for the legacy to continue!
