The Real cohost Jeannie Mai, who is currently a contestant on Dancing With The Stars had to drop out of the competition abruptly due to an urgent health condition.
Jeannie and her dance partner Brandon Armstrong were both set to be apart of Season 29 of Dancing With The Stars this fall, but due to Mai having to be hospitalized, the pair had to withdraw from the competition.
The star was diagnosed with Epiglottitis, which is classified as a potential life-threatening condition where a small cartilage piece swells in the windpipe and blocks airflow to the lungs. During her health update which aired live on Monday night’s show, she says “I found out that I have a throat abscess, where my tonsils and my throat had gotten so infected that it started permeating to the rest of the areas behind my neck and my ears that I had to get emergency surgery, which is why I’m here now,”

Host of DWTS, Tyra Banks got emotional as Jeannie’s health update aired on the show. “Jeannie, we’re glad everything went well and that you’re on your way to a speedy recovery,” she says “As you see, I’m emotional. We’re all emotional in here.” Tyra doesn’t hesitate to give Jeannie words of reassurance and comfort “Just know that you are part of this family until the final episode of this season.” she says.
With Jeannie not present in the competition anymore, there are seven couple remaining and the season 29 finale will be taking place on Monday, November 23.
