The GRAMMY award winning singer and songwriter John Legend has sold his entire music catalog dating back until 2004. According to BET, the deal occurred September 2021 with DL Music IP LP, an affiliate of San Francisco based KKR credit advisor and BMG Rights Management.
In the deal, Legend sold the copyrights to all of his music from John Legend Music Inc. and his rights to receive royalties on any records between the dates of December 1, 2004 to January 1 2021.
BMG and KKR joined forces back in March 2021 to acquire music rights. The company plans to deliver a solution for artist, songwriters, and other music rights owners seeking to realize and grown the value of their music assets.
