Actor and comedian Kevin Hart, opened up about the lessons of morality, his recovery process following the injuries he suffered in a near-fatal car crash back in September 2019, and his new diet in an interview with Joe Rogan, on the Joe Rogan Experience podcast.
On the topic of morality, Hart mentions how your perspective of life changes after you’ve encountered death. “I’m talking about that light, I saw that light when you come close to that light, and that light I’m talking about is death. If you come close to that light and when you do and if you are fortunate enough to come back from that light, you value life differently, there are no bad days for me.”
He also recalls the moment when he returned home from the hospital. Hart stated that his biggest cry in life, “came from the first day when I came home from the hospital because I never had to see the house again. There was an option of me never seeing that home again. There was an option of me never walking on that driveway again. There was an option of me never seeing my wife and my kids again.”
Hart then recalled the moment he realized he wasn’t in control of his life, he claims, “in any decision in any given time it can be over and it’s until you get close to that light that you truly respect that.”
According to CNN, in the car accident Hart suffered fractures in his back and had to have his spine fused. In the interview , he opens up about his recovery process from working out to changing his diet.
“I can go 3-3 1/2 miles straight before I get tight.” Hart stated, “I make sure I get the massages, getting the work done because I’m doing so much within working out I don’t want to not take care of that as well.” Hart was honest about having to go to physical therapy to help soothe the pain.
To his disadvantage, age is a factor as to why Hart is doing these therapeutic treatments. “Just doing things to make sure I’m constantly working on those muscles and not forgetting them, I’m getting older.” Hart, who is now 40-years old with his fourth child on the way, knows that taking care of himself is a priority.
Hart also opens up about the goal he wants to achieve by his birthday in July. He says his goal is to “be around 8-8 1/2 percent body fat at the age of 41.” According to Hart, “the body fat means I’ve been super focused.” With that he mentions he is not “on a strict crazy diet,” but he is eating plant-based meals and occasionally chicken but not seafood or red meat.
The one misconception Hart encourages people to do what works for them when it comes to health and fitness. He says, “I don’t think people understand or get that, just because you make the decision to go and try plant-based doesn’t mean you have to engulf in that world. Learn it, understand it, and see if that works for you.”
