Kid Cudi has always been an advocate for mental health and awareness. Although it may have been difficult, being open about his depression has turned out to be successful for Kid Cudi and his battle with the illness.
The Twitter world was excited when a Kid Cudi image starting circling the internets. A fan tweeted a photo of her psychology textbook which featured a snippet of the Ohio rapper’s journey through depression and mental disorder. The fan was inspired by Cudi’s transparency and bravery and even got a response from the the rapper himself!
If you can remember back in 2016 when Kid Cudi took to Facebook to openly admit his struggle with depression and suicidal urges. He later checked himself into a rehab facility to get the help he needed. The textbook featured a part of his open letter to his fans.
“My anxiety and depression have ruled my life for as long as I can remember… Idk what peace feels like,” said Cudi in the snippet. The intended message seems to be that anyone and everyone can suffer from mental illness but still benefit from treatment.
Cudi has always been transparent about his struggle with mental health but has also always emphasized the importance of seeking help when needed. Since seeking treatment, the rapper has released new music, including “Baptized in Fire” with Travis Scott and the Passion, Pain & Demon Slayin’ album.
