Jamaica to di WORLD! After a year long search for a fitting cast, we finally have an update on the long awaited Bob Marley biopic. It has been announced that actor Kingsley Ben-Adir, who starred as Malcolm X in One Night in Miami, has been chosen to play the Jamaican icon.
American director, Reinaldo Marcus Green, will be commanding this ship. Market’s children Ziggy, Rita, and Cedella will also have a hands on role to telling their father’s story. Robert Teitel will also assist the team produce. The script will be created by Zach Baylin, Frank E. Flowers and Terence Winter.
Bob Marley is a national treasure in the Caribbean with a primary focus on him home country Jamaica. Although his life was cut short in 1981 from cancer at the age of 36, his message of peace and love through his music has left a lifetime effect on the world. He shared his message through reggae, the most famous genre of music in Jamaica. Some of the more popular songs include “Get Up, Stand Up,” “One Love,” “No Woman, No Cry,” “Could You Be Loved,” “Buffalo Soldier,” “Jammin’” and “Redemption Song.”
As of right now we do not have a definitive date of when the biopic will start shooting, but we look forward to Kingsley kill it on screen!
