Lebron James is making sure that 2020 is the year he accomplishes everything he desires. The NBA icon has gifted a full ride to Kent State for his seniors in the ‘I PROMISE’ school, recently lead his team to victory at the NBA All Stars game, and now he is a children’s book author. Publishing company, HarperCollins, will be the force behind bringing these two books to a shelf near you. The book is centered around the values of the Lebron James Family Foundation’s ‘I Promise’ program in Akron, Ohio.
According to ESSENCE James explained, “Books have the ability to teach, inspire and bring people together. That’s why these books, and the opportunity to get children and parents reading together, mean so much to me. Most importantly, we wanted to make sure these stories are ones that every single kid can see themselves in. I Promise is powerful in that way and I can’t wait for people to read it.”
The illustrated book has a powerful message stating, “Success starts with the promises we make to ourselves and our community today.” New York Times bestselling illustrator, Nina Mata, is the talent who brought this story to life. She is also known for her illustrations in the She’s Got This picture book.
The second is a middle grade novel and is scheduled to drop in 2021.
