Lizzo Opens Up about Mental Health in a Tearful TikTok Video

In a Tiktok video posted on Saturday night, Lizzo opens up about the depths of sadness and the difficulty of finding someone to talk to about it.

“You know the part of sadness where you feel like a burden on everyone and annoying and nobody cares? Can we get rid of that part? It’s like, ‘Yo; I’m already sad. Got to add insult to injury that I have no one to talk to about it?” the 3-time grammy-winning singer expressed in a tearful video. “It’s crazy. Like why do we feel this way? Why do we feel this way when we get sad?”

“I don’t want to feel this way anymore,” the singer adds. “I want to feel like I do have someone to talk to; people do care about me. I am loved. I’m not alone. That’s how I want to feel, but I don’t feel like that.”

Shortly after the video was posted, fans flocked to the comments showering Lizzo with support and love virtually.

According to Yahoo Entertainment, Lizzo has expressed her battles with depression previously. In June 2019, the “Truth Hurts” singer posted a video on Instagram captioned, “I’m depressed, and there’s no one I can talk to because there’s nothing anyone can do about it.” She followed the statement with a lighter note, “But this too shall pass.”

Lizzo thanked fans for their support in a follow up video.

“I’m feeling better,” she explains. “I had a really rough night and a very emotional morning just thinking about my relationship and life, and you know how it is. It gets dark. I’m definitely glad I reached out in any way that I could, and TikTok was one of those ways, and to feel received and seen and heard really helped me. I’m not crying anymore.”

Lizzo says that she planned to give herself a self-care day, which includes tea and a bath. “Thank you so much again,” she says. “I love you guys. And if you’re going through things, just know you’re not alone. You’re definitely not. And I love you.”

Lizzo has used TikTok to be transparent with her fans and the public. Often using her videos and platform to advocate for body positivity and mental health awareness. Last year the “Good as Hell” singer led fans in a live meditation amid the coronavirus pandemic.
