Lizzo’s 2019 Tweet Will Have You Feeling ‘Good As Hell!’

Pop sensation Lizzo earned a number of accolades last year. Simply put, her 2019 was nothing less than stellar. The Billboard chart topping singer has always been transparent with her audience about her struggles prior to the fame. She took a moment to reflect on the past decade and how much her life has changed since 2009.

“2009 was the year my daddy died. 2009 was the year I lived in my car & cried myself to sleep on Thanksgiving,” the singer Tweeted on New Years Eve.

She posted pictures of herself; one from 2009 and another on the cover of Time magazine in 2019. In a interview with People Magazine back in July, Lizzo discussed the times she considered quitting music and how the people closest to her pushed her to keep going. When asked about her recent rise to stardom, the 31 year old singer told Time magazine, “I’ve been doing positive music for a long-ass time,” she says. “Then the culture changed. There were a lot of things that weren’t popular but existed, like body positivity, which at first was a form of protest for fat bodies and black women and has now become a trendy, commercialized thing. Now I’ve seen it reach the mainstream. Suddenly I’m mainstream!”

Her hit single “Truth Hurts” was created during some of darkest days in 2017 and went on to top the charts at number one for seven weeks. The Detroit born artist has credited Missy Elliot as one of her biggest influences and spent her younger years in girl groups before becoming a solo artist. Part of her appeal is her talent for playing flute while simultaneously being a body positive rapper. Lizzo included in her Tweet, “Anything can happen in a decade. Tomorrow is the beginning of [your] Anything.”
