Meghan Markle and Prince Harry Donate to L.A. Charity in Honor of Mother’s Day

Meghan Markle and Prince Harry celebrate Mother’s day by donating to the Harvest Home, a California based charity organization for unhoused expecting mothers.

In a statement from their Archewell Foundation, the former royals express their interest in helping to create family structure. Their donation will go towards providing resources and supplies for mothers and their children experiencing homelessness.

“Through Archewell Foundation, The Duke and Duchess’ mission is to demonstrate compassion in action, spark supportive and connected communities, and build a more equitable and just future.” says the statement. “Their aim to ensure that parents, of every makeup and all walks of life, have the support they need to raise families that thrive. With this mission in mind, Archewell Foundation, along with Procter & Gamble are fulfilling Harvest Home’s online wish list for women they serve, including diapers for a year and cleaning supplies to stock the shelves at Harvest Home’s first facility as well as their new home in progress. From all of us at Team Archewell, Happy Mother’s Day. May we all recognize and support the expectant mothers, as well as all mothers, in our live and communities every day in the year ahead.”

On Instagram, Markle wrote a personal letter to the expectant mothers.

“As a mom, and an expectant mom, I deeply appreciate the significance of community support, safe and accessible pregnancy resources, and trusted guidance” the Duchess writes. “These ingredients are essential to not just our physically health, but our mental well-being. And I commend you for leading a compassionate community that lives these values.”

“Thank you for all you do for the women and mothers who are turned away elsewhere, at not a fault of their own. When we consider how vulnerable any mother feels during the fragile time of pregnancy, we gain perspective about how especially difficult it can be for pregnant women of color and those who come from under-resourced and vulnerable communities. I hope you will accept an offer of support to help further uplift Harvest Home’s residents.”

In 2018, just a couple of days after welcoming her son, Archie, Markle used Mother’s day to celebrate the baby royal’s Instagram debut.

The image showed little Archie’s feet cradled by his devoted mother. The photo also paid homage to Harry’s late mother Princess Diana. In the image, Princess Diana’s favorite flowers, forget-me-nots, can be seen in the background.

Meghan Markle holds the feet of her baby, Archie Harrison Mountbatten-Windsor. Prince Harry and Markle, the Duchess of Sussex, have released a photo of their newborn baby to mark Markle’s first Mother’s Day as a mom.

This Mother’s Day, the Duke and Duchess are preparing for the arrival of their baby girl due this summer.
