Meghan Markle and Prince Harry Donate to Dallas Women Shelter to Fund Repairs

Meghan Markle and Prince Harry are doing their best to help Texans suffering from the Winter Storm, Uri.

Recently, the Duke and Dutchess donated to the reconstruction of Genesis Women’s Shelter & Support in Dallas. The shelter suffered severe damage in the winter storm.

On Sunday, the women’s shelter shared their thanks to the couple in a tweet.

“Today the news of our damages reached Prince Harry and Meghan, the Duke and Duchess of Sussex!” the shelter tweets. “Through their nonprofit, they are supporting us by replacing the roof at our transitional housing facility & helping us meet our immediate needs. THANK YOU, ARCHEWELL FOUNDATION!”

The facility caters to women and children who are victims of abusive relationships. Through programs and services such as transitional housing, counseling, and emergency housing, the shelter helps direct families on a safe and secure path. Last year, the shelter served 3,700 women and children. Due to the extreme damage, Genesis closed its doors for the first time in 40 years.

Recently, the shelter has reopened due to the continued “support and generosity of people from all 50 states and five foreign countries,” says Jan Langbein, CEO of Genesis Women’s Shelter & Support.

Prince Harry and Meghan Markle donated to the shelter through their foundation, Achewell Foundation. Their nonprofit is named after their first son, baby Archie.

On Valentine’s day, the couple announced that they will be welcoming baby no.2 later on this year.
