Mulatto says 2020 was ‘A Blessing In Disguise’

2020 has definitely been a game changer for artists in the industry, and tested their ability to keep their image and music going during a pandemic with limited access to live performances and events. One artist took 2020 by storm, and made it her year. Born and raised Atlanta rapper, Mulatto.

Mulatto’s breakthrough came through with her 2019 single, “B*tch from da Souf”. In August 2020, the song reached the Billboard Hot 100, peaking at number 95. Mulatto later released a remix of the song with rappers Saweetie and Trina, followed up by her single, “Muwop” featuring Gucci Mane, in 2020. Both songs were included on Mulatto’s debut album via RCA Records titled, ‘Queen of Da Souf‘, which released on August 21, 2020.

During the 2020 BET Hip Hop award virtual press interview, Mulatto spoke on her goals she set for this year and the surprise she got in return, “I found so many goals of mine, that I had hit this year, despite everything going on. It was like a blessing in disguise. I can’t even get a moment to soak it in, it’s just so many moments for 2020” she stated.

Mulatto, who got her introduction to the rap industry from the show “The Rap Game” winning first place says rapping is only a gateway to her 5 year plan, “I see myself having working towards a legacy, I don’t want to rap forever, so it’s like music is the moment, it’s like the foot in the door” she says “I feel like in 5 years I can start working on the bigger vision, the longevity and a foundation”.

Mulatto will be hitting the stage at the 2020 BET Hip Hop Awards for the first time with a special guest. In addition, she is also a nominee for ‘Best New Artist”.

The 15th annual 2020 BET Hip Hop Awards premieres 9:00 PM EDT October, 27 2020.
