Women’s tennis icon Naomi Osaka partners with Strathbery to use her sense of style to inspire and empower women.
The champion of the courts has often turned to fashion as a form of creative expression. Earlier this year, Osaka made headlines when she attended the US Open donning a range of face masks with the names of police brutality victims; Breonna Taylor, Elijah McClain, Ahmaud Arbery, Trayvon Martin, Philando Castile, Tamir Rice, and George Floyd.
Now, the Japanese star has partnered with Scottish accessories label Strathberry for a limited-edition collection. The collection includes five bags and two wallets.
“I want to really empower women to claim their moment every time they step out with one of these bags on the shoulder,” Osaka tells Vogue.
In honor of their collaboration, Strathberry will donate to Osaka’s Play Academy. Currently only operating in Japan, the program is aimed to change girls’ lives through sports.
“Naomi is the embodiment of a role model who has inspired young men and women everywhere with her unrelenting drive, confidence and voice,” says Strathberry cofounder Leeanne Hundleby.
