BET+ is gearing up for the most wonderful time of the year with a new holiday movie! Director Victoria Rowell and writer Mezan Ayoka tells the authentic story of two separated sisters in the new upcoming Blackjack Christmas.
With the holiday season in full swing networks like BET+ are bringing the cheer with new content! Victoria Rowell pulled from personal experiences to create the story of two estranged sisters finding their way back to each other amidst dire circumstances. “BET + provides filmmakers like me the latitude to tell diverse stories with raw accuracy. One of my foster mothers, Barbara Sterling came to America from Kingston, Jamaica with a dream and three suitcases. Witnessing Barbara’s journey, self-determination and grit inspired me to write this family holiday drama.” She continues to show gratitude to the streaming services dedicated to the Black community for showcasing such stories presented by female directors. “I am immeasurably thankful to BET+ for making a way for undiluted black stories to be seen and heard in our various voices and dialects. Female filmmakers have a unique sensibility and approach to producing, directing, writing and more. Ultimately, Blackjack Christmas provides a family tale of compassion and balm for the soul this holiday season.”
Blackjack Christmas is set to premiere on the platform on December 15th. Check out the trailer!
