Pandora is celebrating and spotlighting a collection of on-campus classics by accomplished artists who studied at Historically Black Colleges and Universities, from Gladys Knight to Killer Mike, in honor of the historic Bayou Classic college football game on April 17th, pitting annual rivals Southern University vs. Grambling State University. SiriusXM’s ESPNU Radio (channel 84) host Anthony Herrn introduces the Voices of HBCUs playlist

The Bayou Classic has been a New Orleans tradition every November since 1974. In October 2020 with the COVID-19 pandemic devastating the world, it was announced that the 47th Annual Bayou Classic would be temporarily moved to Shreveport, La. and played in the spring – on Saturday, April 17 at 1:30pm Central at Independence Stadium. The legendary game between Grambling State University and Southern University has proven to be a steadfast beacon of legacy and tradition that extends beyond the HBCU community. Fans from across the nation journey to witness the electrifying    football game between Grambling State and Southern, while eagerly awaiting the highly anticipated halftime show, which usually features two of the greatest marching bands in the nation.

While Independence Stadium is only allowed to welcome 25% of its usual crowd due to social distancing, HBCU fans will be tailgating and celebrating the big game from home. And what better way to get fired up than with Pandora’s Voices of the HBCU playlist!
