Rapper Future Creates a Wellness Meal Program for Atlanta Senior Citizens

Future and his FreeWishes Foundation has sponsored events that support the health and wellness of senior citizens for years. His program aids those in need with medical conditions and major health risks. This year has been one of the most crucial years of all for our “high risk” elders.

Throughout the pandemic, there has been highs and lows for people who are considered “high risk” patients. The GRAMMY award winning recording artist has been relentless in ensuring that every demographic in this pandemic is assisted, especially elders who can fall fatally ill due to lack of resources.

Normally Future has his annual health and wellness initiative events for seniors but was forced to shut down due to Covid-19 safety regulations. To make up for the loss, his foundation brought their mission on the road through a “Wellness on Wheels” campaign. The campaign gave his foundation a way to complete their mission of promoting safe independent living by empowering the senior community to stay healthy. By creating a contactless system via drive-in, seniors received shopping bags containing stress balls, disposable masks, first aid kits, activity books, healthy snacks and other essentials items. All staff and volunteers adhere to the CDC-recommended COVID-19 guidelines, including following social distancing protocols and wearing masks.

“A lot has been going on in the world and in our communities. After speaking with a few of the senior adults they are feeling a little scared and somewhat isolated. I don’t want COVID-19 to stop our foundation’s commitment to their health and wellness. Through it all…Life is good,” Future said in a statement.

This is not the only act of kindness presented by the rapper during these challenging times. Back in March, he donated masks to healthcare professionals during a dire shortage when the pandemic was at its peak. During the summer, the Freebandz CEO donated scholarships to first-year college students financially impacted as a result of the pandemic.
