BET has just announced the launch of their social impact campaign, #ReclaimYourVote. With the 2020 Presidential elections on the horizon, we see more outlets using resources to reach the youth in creative ways. #ReclaimYourVote is in partnership with the National Urban League; a historic civil rights organization that advocates on behalf of economic and social justice for African Americans. In the fight against racial discrimination, this collaboration is important to the development of youths participation in our country’s democracy.

According to a BET Press Release, other partners include NAACP, National Action Network, Black Economic Alliance, Color of Change, Higher Heights, National Coalition on Black Civic Participation’s Black Youth Vote, and the Lawyers’ Committee for Civil Rights, who are all social African American organizations advocating for the war on discrimination in this country. They strive to educate and engage the community to care about the impact black lives have on political topics. The goal is to bring a community together that increases the political participation we receive from the youth.

“The nationwide #ReclaimYourVote campaign will layout the most significant issues, break down otherwise confusing processes, and highlight specific ways where we can reclaim our collective power by harnessing the power of media, entertainment, and technology to drive civic engagement. #ReclaimYourVote will leverage this opportunity through community activations, television spots, compelling print, social and digital media platforms and urge the Black community to be counted in the census and to take a stand and vote.”, says BET.
