As we know it today, the Met Gala was formerly referred to as the Costume Institute Gala and was initiated in 1948. The initial founding of the benefit was to raise money for the then-new Metropolitan Museum Of Arts’ Costume Institute fashion exhibit in New York City. The purpose of the presentation is to preserve and exhibit various periods throughout fashion history. To this day, the exhibition of the Gala has held up to its previous intention with the added and increasing attention surrounding growing celebrity collaboration.

Befitting its original regard as a prominently exclusive social event known the world over, its annual inception into the culture is subsequently the most prominent fundraising night in New York City for its cause. In 2022, this year’s installment of the Met is no different. Returning to its former annual placement of May, as the world collectively refreshes itself from the global pandemic, we will witness the event under celebrity co-chairs Regina King, Blake Lively, Ryan Reynolds, and Lin Manuel Miranda

As co-chairs of the Met and influential tastemakers universally, they will have the task of assisting with the guest list, food, decor, and generating the overall vibe for the showcase. As such, it’s no wonder that the amassing of these luminary stars of popular culture are viewed as imminently influential when asking the big question darling; “Who Are You Wearing?

Be prepared for the global updates of the Met Gala event on May 2nd.
