Democrat Raphael Warnock beats incumbent Republican Sen. Kelly Loeffler, becoming the first Black Senator in Georgia.

ABC and CBS News predicted Warnock to win the runoff race early Wednesday morning.

After his projected victory, the senior pastor of Atlanta’s Ebenezer Baptist Church posted a video of himself thanking his followers. The Pastor began by unveiling his humble beginnings and various trails he faced during the election in hopes to inspire viewers.

“We were told that we couldn’t win this election,” says Warnock. “But tonight we prove with hope, hard work and the people by our side, anything is possible. May my story be an inspiration to some young person who is trying to grasp and grab hold of the American dream.”

Although the last runoff election between Dem. Jon Ossoff and Rep. David Perdue has yet to be called, Ossoff currently has the lead in the race. The winner of this race will determine which party controls the senate

Due to the high stakes of this campaign, Celebrities and politicians from both parties have been flocking to Georgia to show their support, such as former president Barrack Obama, Former First lady Michelle Obama, Vice President-elect Kamala Harris, and Vice President Mike Pence. Each provided additional funding and made appearances at virtual and live events to encourage voters.
