Seattle Seahawks quarterback Russell Wilson goes to extreme lengths to ensure the longevity of his football career.
During his recent appearance on The Ringer’s “Bill Simmons Podcast”, the 31-year-old revealed that he spends at least $1 million a year investing in his body’s recovery. He hopes that this investment will allow him to play football into his mid 40’s.
“I have a whole performance team,” Wilson tells Simmons, “I’ve got a full-time trainer that travels with me everywhere, works with Ciara too, his name is Decker Davis. I have a full-time PT, Amy. I have a full-time mobile person, that’s working on me, that makes sure I’m moving the right way…I have a full-time massage person, we have two chefs.”
Simmons jokes that Wilson went “full LeBron,” with his recovery regimen.
Wilson replies that he has been dedicated to his extensive body recovery process for going on five or six years.
“For me, my mentality is I’m going to leave it all of the field,” says Wilson. “and do whatever I can to take care of myself. And that’s such a critical thing, because if I feel good than I’m going to play good.”
