Georgia voting rights activist Stacey Abrams has made headlines with her list of voting achievements but the activist has one more goal she’d like to accomplish, and that’s running for President.
During an interview with CBS Sunday Morning Abrams expressed her future endeavors of one day becoming the next President. “Do I hold it as an ambition? Absolutely,” she continues “And even more importantly, when someone asks me if that’s my ambition, I have a responsibility to say, ‘Yes,’ for every young woman, every person of color, who sees me and decides what they’re capable of based on what I think I am capable of.”
For now, of course Abrams is continuing her focus on being a voting rights activist. Her new novel, “While Justice Sleeps,” is set to release next week. In the novel, she details her standpoint with Moriarty of “48 Hours” about her writing, her childhood, her experience with racial injustice, and what steps can be done to make voting fair for everyone.
Abram’s fight for justice has always consisted of equality and she makes sure to reiterate that goal every chance she gets.
“And even more importantly, when someone asks me if that’s my ambition, I have a responsibility to say yes, for every young woman, every person of color, every young person of color, who sees me and decides what they’re capable of based on what I think I am capable of. Again, it’s about you cannot have those things you refuse to dream of,” Abrams says during the interview.
It seems that as for now, we can continue to see Stacey continue her fight for equal voting rights, but let’s also not be shocked when her name is on a ballot!
