Tamar Braxton gave her fans an inside look on her new show, To Catch A Beautician. During an interview with ESSENCE, she also shared the inspiration behind her new hair care product, Grow & Glow organic hair butter. These two projects go hand and hand as they both focus on the redemption of our hair and the pursuit of loving ourselves.

In the show, Braxton alongside co-host hairstylist Johnny Wright, are confronting beauticians who left their customers with botched hair jobs. The show gives these beauticians an opportunity to redeem themselves, according to ESSENCE.

Braxton talks about how excited she was when the show was “first pitched” and how she can relate to bad hair jobs. She said, “I have too been in those shoes. At the time you’re afraid or you don’t really have the courage to tell the stylist, ‘You really did jack up my hair.’ You leave acting as if everything is okay but you know you have that feeling in your stomach like, Oh my God my hair!”

The singer also opened up about how she doesn’t let the negative comments about her hair bother her. She said, “I was at the point in my life where I was obsessed with falling in love with myself. The way that I was when I woke up in the morning—no makeup, no hair. I had to love me in order to move forward with my life. I had to love myself in my purest form.”
