The ‘Momo Challenge’ suicide game has parents in a frenzy!

Social media is an extremely huge part of today’s generation. Although, there are some pros to it, there are definitely huge cons to it as well; especially with the different challenges that seems to pop up every few months for kids and teenagers. Some of these crazy challenges have included setting oneself on fire, and disappearing for 72 hours. The latest challenge has been the ‘Momo challenge.’ Police and Educators have been warning parents of this sick challenge that has been popping up all around social media.

According to the blog, Snopes, the ‘Momo challenge’ is a form of cyberbullying on the apps WhatsApp and YouTube. It targets children and young adults, threating them with a creepy picture tied to it named Momo. It is a sculpture of a grinning face with jet black hair, and huge, bulging eyes created by a Japanese special effects company. The ‘Momo challenge’ tells the child or young adult to perform dangerous activities, and providing a picture after the task is done. Those who do not perform the task ends up being threatened.

The Momo messages have insisted of the child or young adult to take pills, stabbing other people, and killing themselves. According to Patch, at least three deaths were being investigated in September in connection to this challenge. The Momo figure has been known to pop up on cartoons such as the hit show ‘Peppa Pig.’ JaGurl TV warns all parents to keep a good eye out for what pops up on what their children are watching.
