The Weeknd Says Next Album Will Be Inspired By Black Lives Matter Movement “I Have Been More Inspired and Creative”

If there’s something good we’ll get out of the Pandemic and The Black Lives Matter Movement, it’ll be an album from The Weeknd!

In an interview with TMRW he explains how the events of 2020 led to the inspiration behind this next album; “I have been more inspired and creative during the pandemic than I might normally be while on the road…The pandemic, the Black Lives Matter movement and the tensions of the election have mostly created a sense of gratitude for what I have and closeness with the people near me.”

The Weeknd also reflected on how his style of music is shaped by one genre in particular, “My natural singing voice was inspired and shaped by Ethiopian music.”

It’s no surprise that the Canadian Native is incorporating real life struggles into his music. He says, “The older I got, I was exposed to more music, and my voice became a chameleon going into different characters with each album. By following my own path and breaking industry norms, it seems to be influencing others.”

It’s amazing to see The Weeknd take 2020’s struggles and incorporating them into a message for his next album. There is no set release on this project, fans will just have to wait and see!
