Tommie Lee first appeared on our screens when she joined season five of Love and Hip-Hop Atlanta as the girlfriend of rap artist Scrapp DeLeon. She later became a household name known for her wild ways and party girl antics.
Tommie is recently making headlines after being released from jail on child abuse charges after going to her daughters’ school to discipline her. Her charges included aggravated assault, child cruelty, battery, aggravated stalking and disrupting a public school.
In the interview with The Breakfast Club, Tommie explains that her daughter had been acting out at school and also received a charged to bring edibles to school. When Tommie received another phone call from her daughter’s teacher about her behavior, she went to the school to discipline her daughter.
Reports stated that Tommie slapped her hands with a purse strap and hit her in the face. Before allegedly bashing the child’s head into the metal lockers, grabbing her daughter’s hair and dragging her.
She explains “This whole situation really took a toll on me … You know how reports go, it was a lot put on that and it wasn’t like that at all,” she continues to say that “physical abuse is the last form of punishment for children in my household. I can count the times I had to be physical with my children on my hand because I could take their phone or put them on punishment. We have a good relationship.”
Lee explains that her daughter has always been a good student making straight A’s but this incident with the law triggered her and she handled it the most effective way she knew how.
She says “I know what affected me the most when I was younger, me getting my ass whooped in school… My mother came to school and beat my a** in front of the whole gym and I knew I ain’t never want her to come back up to that school.”
She spent four months in jail related to these charges and as the sole provider for her family, she opted to plead guilty in order to be able to return back home to her family.
In hopes of putting this case behind her, Tommie has decided to move her and her family to L.A. with plans to release new music with an EP soon to come out and working on a new podcast.
